1/17/14:  After making contact with the director of the agency I will be volunteering at, we set up an appointment to discuss the service I would/could do.

1/19/14:  I met with the director of the center-she is an amazing person.  I was awed by her responsibilities, as well as her eagerness to help developmental disabled adults.  I can see this is her true calling.  We discussed the service plan, clinical objectives, and signed the forms.  I also gave her information on the degree I am working toward, as well as the college I am in.  I am very excited to work with her and be of any service I can to those I will have the privilege to work with.  I was told there are many areas I can help with, which will be wonderful.  I will discuss more when we finalize later.

  1. 2/4/14 Discussed with my preceptor possible start of service hours. I was told in March I would be needed the most. There is a plan to continue with a new project started last year by the staff at the activity center which is a community "garden" the residents are doing. The residents enjoyed the new activity/project last year, gleaned a "crop," shared the produce as well as enjoyed eating the fresh healthy food themselves at the end of the season! I am excited to be assisting with the project.
    More later...
